Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get...

Its been some time since i got emotional watching a movie, the last one i guess was blood diamond featuring Di Caprio, this time its Forrest Gump.Directed by Robert Zemeckis,Forrest Gump is a gem of movie which portrays the life of Forrest, played by Tom Hanks,a gardener from Albama who coincidently becomes famous in whatever he does "just like that".

In the film he falls in love with his only childhood friend,a girl named Jenny, who has absolutely no control over her life.On several occasions he asks her to marry him only to get disappointed every time.Jenny does marry him finally only its too late by then. All throughout his remarkable journey he remembers Jenny,of how she gave him strength and confidence in life and never forgets what she once told him "..Forrest when you feel you are in danger, dont try to be brave, just run..".

When everyone around him felt he was stupid and dumb,Forrest shows how innocence and goodness at heart can change your life,He becomes famous as a football player in college and later also as a ping pong player. He serves the nation by fighting in the Vietnam war for which he even wins the medal of honor.Later he becomes a billionaire with his shrimp business and finally becomes an inspiration to many as a runner for crossing the whole of America on foot. And all this he does not expecting any fame or riches, but just because he felt like doing so.

The movie has some classy dialogues like the one in which Forrest's mama tells him.."Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get..."

Some of the scenes really touch your heart like the one when Jenny shows Forrest his son when he comes to meet her and also the one later in the movie where Forrest, after Jenny's death, goes to her grave to give her the letter which their son wrote.

Forrest Gump is a brillianty taken movie with some really good performances especially the one by Tom Hanks. Finally it also conveys to the audience the importance of love and innocence at a time when its ceasing to exist.

Standing tall.....

Thats me in front of Burj Al Arab,Dubai, the worlds most luxurious and tallest all-suite hotel..its a real architectural masterpiece and with the night lights on its a real treat to the eyes...
Unfortunately the closest i could get was only uptill the main entrance gate..was not allowed to go any further cos u needed to have an entry pass..there were four different passes..for breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner...the cheapest i guess was the one for tea which costs you200dhirams(Rs2500/-approx!!!)..Hmmm tea worth Rs 2500/- i wonder how it tastes...also the dress code policy of the hotel does not allow you to wear jeans..so either way i would have never made it to the inside.

Hopefully in future i will make a post with pics of the Burj-Al-Arab,from the inside for a change!!!!

Devils Advocate...

Its not surprising to see our Indian cricket team amidst all kinds of controversies before leaving for a major tournament. This time also, as the team gears up for the World cup,the situation is not much different. The matter which caused all the fuss is regarding the selection of Sehwag for the world cup squad. It all happened in a CNN-IBN show called The Devils Advocated hosted by non other than Karan Thapar ,during his interview with Dilip Vengsarkar.

Vengsarkar on being asked why Sehwag was selected commented that his inclusion was solely because of the insistence of the Indian captain Rahul Dravid ,otherwise he would have never made it to the World cup squad. This raises serious concerns over the efficiency of the selection team and also the reveals enormous powers the captain has when it comes to team selection . When the committee sits down to decide a squad, each and every team member should be selected based on a consensus between the members of the board.Faith or favoritism towards certain players should never be part of the selection criteria ,but it seems thats clearly not the case with the BCCI board.

Vengsarkar later justified the decision by saying that he will always back the captain because he himself had faced a situation, while he was playing for the country, where he could not get the squad he asked for.So he doesnt want the same thing to happen with Rahul Dravid.

The comment seams ridiculous especially taking into consideration the poor form of Sehwag, who failed to cross 20 in 11 of his last 13 innings. Also Dravid's comment that Sehwag has done well in the past doesnt prove any point. How can you pick a player for a series like the world cup based on how he performed 2 yrs back?

With less than a week for the world cup to start, lets hope that Sehwag lives up to his expectations and does perform well and lets also hope that officials of the BCCI do not make any unnecessary comments and cause tensions within the team.

MyPhone...SEw810i

Its quite surprising as to how i got hold of one of these..i had been drooling over the SEw810i for quite some time...asking my parents to buy me one was never going to yield any success..so obviously it obtained highest priority in the list of gadgets to be purchased after i get my first paycheck..then it happened..my trip to sisters place in Dubai..getting a new mobile was always on the cards..but never expected it to be so grand...anyways ended up having a brand new SEw810i in my hands(thanks to my generous sis!!!)...

Veega Land...

Recently i happened to visit VeegaLand in kochi along with tinu, poona, renjith and mathai. It was a real shame that being in kochi for the past 5 yrs or so i never happened to visit veegaland, anyways no more complains regarding that matter now.We reached the place by some 11 in the morning and we had no idea how the time went by.Trust me its a real cool place to hang out with friends....

Had a monstrous experience on one of these, don remember what its called but its one way to get your adrenaline pumping.I had my eyes shut most of the time, the only time i happened to open them i saw myself hanging some 15ft in the air,and that too upside down.Happy to come out of it alive :)

...hey thats tinu on the space gun(hopefully i got the name right!!)...

Thats the clan emerging from the water...(from left :
me,renjith,mathai
,poona and anil)

I should thank tinu for taking the snaps while all of us were in the water rides. This is a really nice pic of us coming down one of the water slides.I guess the person in the center of the photo is me.We had to climb a lot of stairs to get to the start of the slide and inspite of that we took the slide some 7-8 times. Its real fun coming down the slide!!!!

So it finally happened...

Hurray!!! so i finally own a blog....
Its been quite some time since i have been planning to create a blog...but always ended up a step short of doing it wondering what to post in the blog and also how well i could do it.But this time keeping all the "ifs and buts" aside am kick starting with blogging.
The fact that how difficult could it ever get in expressing one's thought had always crossed my mind but the truth is putting your thoughts in writing so as to convey the exact same message is an art.The real beauty is in keeping it as simple as possible and yet sustaining the elegance in the writing.
I happened to read through some of my friends blogs and i really appreciate the naturalness in the way they express themselves.Maybe i should borrow a few tips and tricks from them.
